Candidate has ‘organisation acumen’

To the editor,

I am casting my choose fellow Rotary club member Sari Greene to represent South Portland, Cape Elizabeth and part of Scarborough in the Maine Senate. In reaction to the present situation, I have actually been struck by Sari’s management and her dedication to volunteering to help our neighborhood. To name a few things, she initiated the Facebook group South Portland Neighborhood of Compassion, in addition to volunteering at the South Portland Food Cupboard and arranging others to do the same.

The present pandemic has made all of us a lot more familiar with how reliant we are on technology. Sari is a nationally recognized cyber-security expert and as somebody who has recently had her identity stolen (whoever has my social security number, please return it), I am a lot more knowledgeable about how important her competence is to our society and particularly to our government.

When Sari initially told me she was running for senate, she said that it was because she was worried that Maine required a climate that was supportive of tasks and small businesses. As a lady who began and led her own really effective service, her service experience and expertise would genuinely be welcome in our state federal government, specifically in the consequences of the destruction that the pandemic is wreaking on our economy.

I believe that Sari’s strong management skills, commitment and business acumen make her the very best option for Maine.

Candidate will ‘strike the ground running’

To the editor,

Neighbors, I’m so pleased that Rep. Anne Carney is running for a seat in the Senate chambers, and I motivate you to support her. Anne is the only prospect in this July primary with the requisite political experience to hit the ground running and represent the interests of our neighbors in Cape Elizabeth, South Portland and Scarborough.

I have actually had the satisfaction– and the honor– of working with Anne on several essential concerns that directly impact our way of life– and show the best in our values. Anne is that rare public servant with an inherent capability to listen prior to she acts. Maybe that’s what you get when you combine a successful law practice with a strong heart of gold, years of social work, and a masters degree in theology.

It’s a winning combination for District 29. Anne Carney’s fought hard for us over the last couple of years. Let’s now defend her to keep our voices, and our worths, well represented in Augusta.

Prospect brings ‘common sense, management’

To the editor,

Today I finished my main absentee tallies. I have extremely hardly ever divulged how I voted in a primary. Nevertheless, because of the hard times we are experiencing, this election is different. Sometimes like this, we require tested leaders to bring both sound judgment, experienced management however also leaders with empathy and concern for their communities. I have cast my vote in the State Senate District 29 contest for Sari Greene of South Portland because she has actually already shown these qualities.

This is a time we must come together as a common community and reveal our values through our vote. Sari shares these values. She volunteers regularly in numerous ways in our neighborhoods. Expertly she established a cyber security business which, in her management design, she showed her core values. Among other things, she supplied meaningful advantages, including health insurance, to her staff members as well as reasonable salaries. Her thoughtful leadership will carry over to her tasks in the State Senate.

The unprecedented dangers we have actually seen in not having adequate planning, in health care and our economy, can be avoided in the future with leaders like Sari to work with our Gov. Mills in restoring our state and also, given her background, establishing methods to avoid repeating past mistakes.I urge my fellow Democrats in Senate District 29 to vote, in the current main, for Sari Greene for State Senate District 29 and to support her in November. Dan Mooers South Portland Candidate has’important experience, skills’To

the editor, I compose to lend my voice in fired up assistance

of Sari Greene to be our Democratic candidate for Senate District 29 representing South Portland, Cape Elizabeth and part of Scarborough. It was my honor to hold the very seat that Ms. Greene looks for. I make this sincere endorsement with a nod to the previous and more notably– an eye on our shared futures. Normally, it is not my practice to openly endorse in a main as I have incredible respect for all ready to make the commitment and do the work required for this level of public service; however these are not normal times, and Sari Greene has special, prompt, vital experience and abilities that will be invited by her Senate associates. Extraordinary times require extraordinary management. We need those who represent us to know that we are depending on them to work together to take concrete actions on our behalf. Our issues are immediate, and require

demonstrated ability to listen, understand, communicate, and execute, while at the same time holding to one’s deeply held democratic worths. Sari Greene is that leader. Sari Greene has actually demonstrated that she knows the significance of healthy lives and livelihoods that sustain, and she understands that Maine can not have one without the other. I can not think of anyone I would trust more to successfully represent us in these troubled and unsure times. Please join me in choosing Sari Greene to be our Democratic nominee for Senate District 29. Lynn Bromley South Portland SMCC trainees share letters To the editor, There is a huge problem that has actually occurred over the recent years. Lots of teenagers are uneducated about safe sex. Since of the absence of info, they are uninformed of the

available resources. Teens are feeling pressured to have sex and are not thinking of the long lasting affect that could originate from simply one moment of

enjoyment. In high school health

classes,

they express more secure ways to make love. In my belief, moms and dads need to always know what their kid is doing and have a discussion to prepare them for their adult life. Teens can get pregnancy prevention resources and guidance from a fantastic company that helps youth named Planned Being a parent. Planned Being a parent states,”The birth control pill is 91 percent

reliable and a condom is 85 percent efficient.”This knowledge will assist reduce the pregnancy rate. They will guide people on the ideal path and are constantly readily available for assistance. When going into any restroom, I always remember seeing hotlines for support groups. These hotlines will help any specific anonymously. We need to come together and assist our younger generation to become more informed. We need to support them. Let’s find a method for both boys and young women to feel safe to ask for help. Ariana Marquis Bath To the editor, Countless bees die every year and this is a disaster for all mankind. Beekeepers report they are losing usually 30 percent of all honeybee colonies each winter-twice as much loss as enabled at regular. Scientists indicate numerous reasons why bees

die: there are illness and parasites, modification in climate, practice loss, and pesticides. Bees are used to pollinate most crops that we eat daily. They collect pollen in fields that are pesticide-treated and this triggers

terrific damage to bee

households

. We need to take this issue seriously. If farmers can not do without chemicals for their fields, then we need to produce pesticides that will not damage our bees. This issue must be resolved at least at the state level. I believe that first, we require to compose

letters to regional authorities, publishers and companies that can affect the option to this problem. The 2nd method to fix this circumstance is to plant regional flowers, bushes, and trees to provide bees with food and produce an environment for them.If today we make the right choices, it will offer a healthy and

brilliant future for our children. Together, we can save the bees and our food supply. Let’s give the bees a chance. Iryna Ivanova Ukraine To the editor, Portland has numerous tasks for immigrants. Ninety percent of those task candidates

are having a difficult time with interviews. The reasons for this are: not having strong language abilities, not using the appropriate clothing, or not understanding the way an interview works. When a person has an interview, what should he or she do? First, the individual must come thirty minutes early to the workplace. Second, the person must have a resume folder and use expert clothes

. The reason for using nice clothing is to show respect for the company and for the interviewer. When the job

candidate introduces himself he must smile, say his name and shake the job interviewer’s hand. In some cases the recruiter’s questions are tough to understand. When the job hunter answers the questions, he must speak clearly and show how his skills fit into the business. If the company uses the job, the person must come early

on the first day and be prepared. If you want a great job, you need to remember to prepare for your

interview. It will decide your success. Abdilgani Farah Somalia To the editor, Among the leading causes of cars and truck accidents today is texting while driving, which is extremely dangerous and being practiced by any ages. DoSomething.org says,”19 percent of motorists of any ages confess to surfing the web while driving. “This is a scary reality. People are passing away, ending up being disabled,

and ruining other lives too. A great driver should focus and remain focused, appreciating the road, the roadway signs, other chauffeurs and pedestrians. This is also important for grownups to follow. DoSomething.org likewise says,”According to 77 percent of teens, grownups tell them not to text or e-mail while driving, yet grownups do it themselves all the time.”

A week ago there was a motorist stopped and texting while peeping at the lights and he nearly ran over a blind male who had not yet reached the pedestrian sidewalk. As this was happening the lady behind me shouted and I was so horrified I didn’t know what to do. I was shaking and my hands were sweaty.

If an individual needs to get an important call, he should pull over and take it. State no to distracted driving to save lives and our community. Joel Kayumba Democratic Republic of Congo To the editor, Water is crucial in life. Faucet water in Cumberland County comes from Sebago Lake and is safe, clean and delicious. Humans can not survive without water. Pure and clean water is very essential to our body due to the fact that

it offers us strength and assists us to be much healthier. Sebago Lake is considered to be one of the purest lakes in Maine. It is called the “Queen of inland water. “Likewise, Sebago suggests”great water.”This indicates that Cumberland County has excellent and delicious water. Mineral water may be a good short term option

if faucet water is polluted, however in Cumberland County it is not contaminated. Mineral water is also very expensive with time. We do not need to pay for water bottles since our

community has excellent water. Utilizing

water bottles once and

tossing them away is inefficient. They end up being ecological concerns. Some are recycled. Some go to garbage dumps. Others end up as litter. The chemicals in the plastic used in the bottles could likewise be launched into the groundwater. This may cause some long term health issue for both animals and human beings. It

is important to wisely use our money and be healthy. We need to stop wasting money. The tap water from Sebago Lake in our neighborhood is pure, safe and clean. We need to drink it and not pay for

mineral water. George Kanda Democratic Republic of Congo To the editor, Every second, 160,000 plastic bags are utilized worldwide. The magnitude of waste that will reduce if all of us utilized recyclable bags would be extensive. Stores in Maine have actually been using plastic bags for many years and it’s incredibly bad for the environment. Why use plastic bags when you can use recyclable bags? They are much better for the environment and the amount of good that you can do would be a big favorable modification. The Maine federal government has begun to ban plastic bags in retail stores, but simply think of the length of time we have actually been utilizing plastic bags prior to they got banned. Plastic bags are toxic for the environment and we do not even have a way to recycle them. We now use paper bags. Paper bags are much better since they decompose. Plastic bags can take about 400 to 1,000 years to disintegrate.

Despite the fact that using paper bags is great, utilizing multiple-use bags is so

a lot more reliable because you can utilize them numerous times. An example of a negative factor for utilizing paper bags is that we get charged for them. Why pay extra money when you can bring a reusable tote and use it more than as soon as? You can conserve yourself cash by bringing multiple-use bags. Usage reusable bags.

They benefit marine life. Around 100,000 animals lose their life due to the litter of plastic bags. Likewise, utilizing plastic bags can risk contamination when certain plastics mix together and they are simple to store. The earth will more than happy, your savings account will more than happy and so will you. Sasha Savitz United States To the editor, I constantly thought vaccinations was essential since there are a great deal of health problems that

can affect our children if they are not vaccinated. Ann Coats, M.D., pediatric pulmonologist at Maine Medical Center, says that an absence of vaccinations might lead to severe health issues and even death. One example of an extremely contagious illness is measles. Other illnesses are whooping cough and influenza, which can likewise threaten for children and the senior. Congratulations to everyone in Maine for securing our citizens from harmful illness. I enjoy that my vote mattered. Despite various opinions, we can move forward as a

state knowing our children are safe. Now it is time for all Maine people to come together. Megan Pelletier Portland “Previous
