At least two automobile insurance provider state they will reimburse Americans a few of their month-to-month premiums as millions remain at house due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The New York City Times initially reported Tuesday that insurers Allstate and American Household Insurance coverage say they prepare to reimburse part of consumers’month-to-month costs, a response to cost savings the industry is reaping as an outcome of fewer automobiles being on the roadway.

In < a href=" https://www.amfam.com/about/coronavirus/relief-payment "target= “_ blank”rel =”noopener noreferrer”> a statement launched on American Household Insurance’s site, company executives said that the refund would total up to a one-time credit of $50 per car for clients.

ADVERTISEMENT “We are taking the extraordinary action to help our clients by providing a one-time$50.00 payment for each personal auto insured with us through our premium relief payment. Why? Since with less automobiles on the road nowadays, there are less miles being driven which suggests there will be less mishaps,” the company stated.

“Since many individuals are experiencing monetary difficulty now, we are working to get these payments released as quickly as possible. We have gotten regulative approval in Wisconsin and will begin mailing checks the week of April 6, 2020. Checks will be sent out to customers in our other running states pending regulatory approval,” the company continued.

Allstate agents described on the company’s site that customers would receive, usually, 15 percent of their month-to-month premiums reimbursed for the months of April and May.

Allstate’s CEO Thomas Wilson informed the Times that the company was seeing “considerable” changes in the number of claims it serviced just days into the coronavirus break out in the U.S.

“After one week’s worth of information came in, we understood this was significant,” Wilson stated. “And it was less than 2 weeks from when we initially saw the information to when we made this announcement.”
