Hurricane Fay to bring rain to Maine this weekend, greatest effects to miss us – WMTW Portland

Tropical Storm Fay will bring heavy rain to much of Maine on Saturday as the storm moves north.Tracking Tropical Storm Fay: The current radar, maps and modelsFay made landfall late Friday afternoon along the coast of New Jersey.The track will take the storm up the Hudson Valley bringing heavy rains through upstate New york city, Western Connecticut, Western Massachusetts and Vermont as a tropical depression. The track is west of Maine, however that does not indicate we will not feel the results of Fay. Bands of rain will continue to move through Maine on Saturday morning, bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms. By the afternoon we will see some warm breaks and a couple of scattered showers and storms. Looking at 1/2″ to 1 1/2″ of rainfall possible with greater amounts in the White Mountains and where those heaviest rain bands established. It will be breezy however much of the higher winds will stay to the west. It is already the sixth called storm of the Atlantic typhoon season. 2 named storms formed prior to the main start of the typhoon season June 1.
