Locator. AUGUSTA, Maine– Maine Bureau of Insurance Coverage Superintendent Eric Cioppa revealed Thursday that almost$1.4 million was recuperated for Maine consumers through investigations conducted by the Bureau’s customer divisions in 2020.

Cases examined each year by the Bureau involve a large range of circumstances, varying from problems of inappropriate billing, incorrect or delayed claims processing, inappropriate rejection of payment for medical treatment, and unlawful insurance coverage sales practices.

The Bureau’s Consumer Health Care Department, which deals with health, life, long-term care, Medicare supplement, annuities, and disability insurance coverage, got 2,701 queries from customers and 247 written grievances, resulting in$676,960 in healings, according to Cioppa.

Cioppa stated the Home and Casualty Department, which handles automobile, property owners, and other types of property and liability insurance coverage, dealt with 2,119 queries and 203 composed grievances, leading to $706,617 in recoveries.

Lost life insurance coverage advantage matches According to Cioppa, the $818,000 in life insurance coverage policies matched to Mainers in 2020 through the NAIC’s Life Insurance Policy Locator brings the overall matched to Maine consumers since the service started in 2017 to $2,389,970. The policy locator can be found under the “Consumer” tab at www.naic.org. Individuals who believe they are beneficiaries, administrators, or legal representatives of a departed person may submit a search request type totally free of charge.
