Maine companies score high in LGBTQ work environment equality index – Mainebiz

” class =”ff-og-image-inserted”/ > This year’s Corporate Equality Index, an annual benchmarking research study of LGBTQ work environment fairness, gives high marks to 2 Maine-based business among over 1,000 that were graded across the country. Other popular companies in the state likewise performed well.

Hannaford Supermarkets received a rating of 100% on the index, released by the Washington, D.C.-based Human Rights Project and the HRC Structure. L.L.Bean Inc. earned a score almost as high, 90%.

This is the 10th successive year Scarborough-based Hannaford has received the best score, while the ranking for L.L.Bean nearly doubled from its revealing last year. The Freeport seller, with about 5,000 staff members worldwide, scored 50% in 2020.

These beliefs have been inherent in our organization for several years, and we worked with HRC in 2020 to share all of our policies, programs and detailed ways in which we strive to create the most inclusive environment possible for our LGBTQ+ workers, resulting in an increased rating.”

At Hannaford, Vice President of Operations Jim Hamilton stated in a news release, “We are proud to have gotten this acknowledgment from HRC for the methods which we create safe and inviting environments for our partners and customers alike. This achievement acknowledges the work we do each and every day to celebrate distinctions and respect each other’s lived experiences.”
