A nor’easter will move up the coast Monday bringing snow to the area by late afternoon. By mid-morning, some sleet may work in for the coastline, especially at the midcoast. Some freezing drizzle by late morning and afternoon will likely create a crust on top of the snow.The heavy snow will taper off to snow showers by noon. The lakes region and southern Maine have the best chance for a foot or more of snow. The Portland, Lewiston and Augusta areas are looking at 6 to 12 inches. A coastal flood warning in effect for early Tuesday afternoon for York County, with large waves causing splash-over and minor flooding. A coastal flood advisory has been issued for Cumberland County through Midcoast Maine.
