Peter was born to Fern and Frances (Muskie) Chouinard in Rumford, Maine on March 29, 1945, 20 minutes prior to his fraternal twin brother. He went to Stephen’s High School in Rumford, and graduated from St. John’s Seminary in Boston in 1967. In 1968, he wed Karen Beauchesne. During their 52 years of marital relationship, they built a household, a house and a condo.
They ruined German Shepherds and renowned Christmases loaded with designs and customs.
They raised their household in Portland and just recently retired to Gray.
Peter’s very first occupation was as an effective insurance coverage sales agent for Campbell, Payson & & Noyes in Portland, Maine. He later shifted gears into the vehicle industry: first running his own service, American Brake Service, and later running the service departments at Lexus Berlin City and Lex Connection. After retiring, he continued to work part time delivering automobile parts.
However, it was his function as a family man that he treasured the most; being a brother, other half, father, grandpa, and uncle. He was particularly close with his in-laws (jokingly calling himself and others that wed into the family “out-laws”). His preferred thing to be called was “Grampy”. He treasured Thursday night pizza with his grandchildren Benjamin, Jacob, and Alexandra. He got a kick out of an ongoing video game hiding random objects with his grand son Nicholas. He had a ball when challenging his competitive grandson DJ with numerous “bet you can’t” scenarios.
Peter liked to tease and had a wise-guy sense of humor, however his great will was constantly evident. Whether snowblowing a next-door neighbor’s driveway, driving relatives to the airport, or offering support to a pal in a time of need, Peter had a credibility for real generosity. He delighted in connecting with people and making someone smile would make his day more vibrant.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents. He is endured by his other half Karen (Beauchesne) of Gray, Maine; his kids, Jennifer Vella of Raymond, Maine and Paul Chouinard (with better half Tricia) of Windham, Maine; his 5 grandchildren; and his siblings Lee Chouinard (with spouse Frances) of Denver, Colorado, Michael Chouinard (with other half Helen) of San Antonio, Texas and Wayne Chouinard (with spouse George) of Boiceville, New York City.
Due to current restrictions from the Coronavirus pandemic, funeral services will be private.
