A 12-hour standoff in Waterville ended when cops discovered the suspect dead with a shotgun beside him, officials revealed Wednesday.Waterville Cops Chief Joseph Massey said the body of James Croxford, 23, was found in the basement of a big, uninhabited structure on Highwood Street Wednesday morning. Investigators explained Croxford as a transient, although he had family in the central Maine area.Croxford was found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot would, although his official cause of death will be determined by the state medical inspector, Massey said.The circumstance started around 4:15 Tuesday afternoon after several people called 911 reporting gunfire coming from the Highwood Street building.
