Portland firemen loses his battle with cancer a day after returning to Maine – WMTW Portland

Portland firemen and paramedic Chris Fabian has died, a day after he got an authorities escort back to Maine from a health center in Boston. Fabian had actually been battling stage four pancreatic cancer and wished to be closer to family and friends as he went into hospice care. Authorities and firemens saluted from overpasses the whole time the route from Boston to Maine on Wednesday as his escort passed by.Fabian joined the Portland Fire Department on Sept. 27, 1999 and was most just recently appointed to Engine Company 1 at the Munjoy Hill Station.He was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer in Might of 2019. The Portland Fire Department said prepare for services are being made. The Munjoy Hill Station composed on Facebook, “Rest In Peace Brother Fabian and rest assured that Munjoy Station will constantly be #FabianStrong.”
