A tractor-trailer crash on I-295 in Falmouth caused major delays Monday afternoon.The crash was reported at about 1 p.m. in the northbound lanes just north of Exit 10, according to Maine State Police.Police said the tractor-trailer jackknifed, blocking both lanes of travel. Witnesses reported that another vehicle getting onto the highway from Exit 10 did not yield for the tractor-trailer, forcing the driver to brake quickly.After the crash, the driver was not able to get out of the cab, because the driver’s side door was blocked.A passenger side window was smashed, and he got out safely, police said.The highway in the area of the crash was closed for about 1.5 hours due to a large amount of fuel that spilled from the truck.One lane had reopened by about 2:30 p.m., and both lanes reopened shortly before 5 p.m.The crash caused delays into the evening commute.
