City officials stated the beach closed Sunday after a malfunction at the East End Wastewater Treatment Plant, but on Tuesday results came back’ well below
‘limit PORTLAND, Maine– In an email Sunday afternoon, city spokesperson Jessica Grondin stated Portland Cops and Parks and Recreation personnel closed East End Beach after the Portland Water District notified the city there was a malfunction.
The breakdown took place at the East End Wastewater Treatment plant which is owned and operated by Portland Public Works.
East End Beach remained closed till the city received test results on Tuesday. The City said the beach has actually been resumed as the results from the first water sample
