A 76-year-old man has actually passed away from his injuries after a vehicle drove into the stands at a baseball field in Portland’s Deering Oaks Park; suspect charged with murder

“/ > PORTLAND, Maine– On Sunday night around 5:25 p.m., an automobile drove into the stands at a baseball field prior to pulling up in a play ground in Deering Oaks Park in Portland leaving one elderly man seriously hurt


The 76-year-old male passed away from his injuries on Monday.
Portland Authorities Lieutenant Dan Hondo states the motorist of the vehicle, Jonathan Burt, was jailed at the scene on suspicion of running while under the impact. In a court look via video from jail, 29-year-old Burt of Lisbon was charged with murder, conduct with a dangerous weapon, running under the impact (drugs), violation of conditions of release, and operating without a license. A judge set his bail at the state suggestion of $ 50,000 money. A witness at the field says there was a U14 baseball doubleheader game underway, with moms and dads sitting around the outskirts of the field watching the 2nd game.

The vehicle wound up in a nearby play area where it reportedly damaged park equipment but did not strike any kids dipping into the time.

Cumberland County District Attorney St. Jonathan Sahrbeck stated an off-duty New Hampshire State Trooper was at the park at the time of the event and was able to warn individuals in time for them to get out of the way prior to the cars and truck struck the bleachers.

The crash stays under examination, but both the chauffeur and traveler in the car were dealt with for overdose signs. Anyone that may have seen the occurrence is motivated to get in touch with Portland Cops at 207.874.8532 or 207.874.8575.
